Can we believe the regime?

The administration and its boss lie about everything from crowd sizes to weather reports to numbers of terrorist caught at southern border to who is paying the tariffs to opening steel mills…

Why should we believe that Iran was behind the attacks on Saudi oil facilities?

This is a major problem.

We have a president whose reputation for mendacity is a running joke. Most of his claims we can shrug off, ignore or disprove in nanoseconds.

But threats that could result in war are serious. Or should we just go on faith that this time, this one time, he might be telling the truth?

Of course we have a nasty habit of starting wars on lies. From “Remember the Maine” to the Gulf of Tonkin” to WMD’s. Why should this president be any different?

Maybe it is just an “American thing” to shoot first and ask questions later.

  1. Saudi Arabia – with our help – has been waging a genocidal war against the Yemenis. From first reports it seems that the Yemenis have found a way to strike back by hitting oil facilities – maybe with some hardware provided by Iran. The global economic impacts of this asymmetrical warfare should not be a causus belli. It should be a warning of what kind of disaster we are flirting with by promoting war and threatening bomb attacks in such a volatile region.

  2. We have a well-documented history or war mongers lying us into disastrous wars. And now, we have a demonstrably dishonest administration lead by a demonstrably egregious liar. Based on both of those facts we, the people are now in the sad position of being foolish if we do not exercise a great deal of skepticism about ANYTHING they offer as a fact.

We provide weapons to the Saudis with which they attack the Yemenis. Iran provides weapons to the Yemenis. End of story. There is no causus belli in these facts FOR US. If the barbaric Saudis want war with Iran over this let THEM do it. Without our help. We do not have a dog in that fight. Not really. If anything, we are on the wrong side of the conflict based on our values and culture.

  3. Okay, probably shouldn’t write this here — Loose lips and all that sh!t — but… Watch the skies over NOB and Langley for a large number of Lear Jets, Gulfstreams, and the ilk.

If you see one after another landing all with military markings… it’s a done deal.
