All the reasons Thiessen gives for us buying Greenland are why Denmark should keep it.
Rich in resources, great location for shipping routes and a rent paying customer for military security.
It’s a shame that Denmark spent all that time and money preparing for a state visit only to be told that Trump was insulted and wouldn’t show.
So there.
Apparently the whole nation thought Trump was joking. Another spur of the moment tweet. So go along, laugh a bit and say “absurd”, ha, ha.
“So when are you coming for dinner?”
Geez.
RE: “All the reasons Thiessen gives for us buying Greenland are why Denmark should keep it.”
So you say, but Thiessen in fact argues the opposite. Trump bashing aside, do you have an opinion on the proposal itself?
I’m all for it, as long as we pay in dollars and not gold. Real estate is almost always a good investment.

How does he argue the opposite?
Just at because Denmark is not mining now doesn’t mean the won’t when it is in their interest to do so.
Bashing the president? I guess you think he did the right thing by snubbing a good ally. In my opinion he did not do it.

Notice Thiessen’s concluding statement: “But the idea of buying Greenland is no joke. It actually makes a lot of strategic and economic sense.”

That concluding statement was his opinion. But all the benefits of buying Greenland are already in Denmark’s possession.
Besides, we are in deep debt and getting deeper.

What does that mean?

Denmark lacks the manpower, the capital and the entrepreneurial zeal to exploit Greenland.
Holding on to it instead of selling it to someone capable of developing it is simply prideful and wasteful.
Its theirs, and they can say no, but it does no one any good.

Pretty dismissive of a country you know little about.
They, along with the other Scandinavian countries are capitalist nations where it is easier to start a business than here. The zeal is there.
Next, ever hear of consortiums? Our Elizabeth River Tunnels were built and financed by Swedish and Australian corporations. The fact that they took our politicians and “experts” to the cleaners ought to give you pause.
Finally, manpower. There are billions of people looking for work and engineers from multiple nations.
Got to think outside the US bubble.
When Denmark thinks the time is right and the Greenland people agree I am sure they can proceed. And probably with or without us. Their choice.
In addition, we are $22 trillion in hole and rapidly getting deeper into debt. We probably can’t afford what that land might be worth.
Prideful and shameful? That was Trump’s tweeted offer and his whiney petulance when turned down.

This gets more and more laughable as you Trumpkins try to pretend that the “Greenland deal” was anything more than the ravings of a complete dunce. Now the Danes are “prideful and wasteful” because they called it for what is – utter nonsense,
Sad.
