The Alex Jones Verdict Shows the Danger of Defamation Laws
The Alex Jones verdict is fundamentally wrong.
In a free society, a private citizen saying things that other people are free to ignore is not punishable by law. In a society which does not respect free speech, however, merely saying words is apparently grounds of levying fines of hundreds of millions of dollars.
One might even say the verdict is morally wrong, but perhaps it is enough to question the legitimacy of defamation as a legal theory.

The writer warns that the U.S. military industrial complex is not prepared to either deter or conduct a major war. The basic problem is that our weapons and ammunition are in short supply and our industry cannot produce the inventories we will need.
The warning sounds valid to me, but I wonder if the message will sink in where it should.
For me it is shocking to realize that my country — once the military-industrial wonder of the world — can’t even provide sustainment for a dinky little war like the one in Ukraine.
What Is Russia Planning To Do Next In Ukraine?

The military analysts I follow think Russia may be planning a big offensive in early to mid November. The source article covers some of the reasons for thinking so. Not mentioned, but widely acknowledged is that Ukraine’s offensive that made so much news last month has dead ended.
What Do Supply and Demand Curves Really Tell Us? Not Very Much
I like this brief essay because it supports my belief that no such thing as “supply and demand” exists.

The writer makes a fair point: “Are autocracy and democracy in a climactic ideological crusade to determine the destiny of mankind? For if that is the future, it is surely not America’s past.”
