  1. hundreds of thousands of people from countries where COVID is worse than anywhere in the US are coming across the border this year. The Biden administration is putting them on planes and dispersing them around the country, with no quarantine, testing or vaccination.

When that is taken seriously, get back to me on Florida’s reluctance to play nice with the Feds/

    1. Florida needs to play nice with its own damned residents.

Nice deflection attempt. Try again please. Or better yet, don’t. It does not advance the discussion.

        1. Not the subject of this thread. Do you, however, have proof that the illegals are the main cause of delta since you insist on changing the subject.

    2. What does that have to do with Florida hiding COVID stats?

There is little proof that the immigrants are the main cause of delta. You even intimated so yourself when you noted that the variant arrived just a few months from India.

Variants are a fact of life. The longer we puts around with mask politics and vaccine hesitancy the worse we are going to be.

The Delta variant was first identified in India.

        1. I just said that. So Hispanics coming across our border are all tourists from India.

(Hmm, as “tourists” did they attack our Capitol…)

          1. You said, “There is little proof that the immigrants are the main cause of delta.”

In fact, immigrants are the only possible source of the Delta variant in the U.S. That includes illegal immigrants crossing the southern border.

          2. …”immigrants are the only possible source of the Delta variant in the U.S”

Laughable lunacy. So by your account there is no way in hell that an American tourist brought the Delta variant to our shores. Or a tourist from another country coming here. Or a cargo ship worker. Or any other number of possibilities.

            Remember your said “ONLY”.

            Laughable and dangerous.

Doesn’t matter. An immigrant is an incoming migrant.

Are you denying you said them? I am laughing at the idea that you believe, for some unfathomable reason, that ONLY immigrants are the source of the Delta variant. It doesn’t take a doctorate in Common sense to see that your statement is not only fallible; it is blatantly dishonest.

          5. RE: “What about the first COVID infections that came in with American travelers returning from China or Europe.”

What about them? The Delta variant didn’t originate in the U.S.

          6. You are just arguing for argument sake. We are talking COVID and whether immigrants from Mexico are to blame for the current surge.

Dr. Tabor’s comment may have been specific to Mexican immigration, but the underlying principle applies to ALL immigration. You and Mr. Green are picking at nits that are irrelevant to the concept and have no effect on it.

          8. Which is NOT the topic of the original post. Dr. Tabor went off topic and because he is the moderator and owner of this forum he can do it with carte blanche. He has pointed out when others have gone off topic, but does not see for himself that he did. As did you.

And since when are American tourists, place pilots, stewardesses, ship’s crew and others considered “immigrants”?

Len is right. You are arguing just for the sake of arguing. What is really sad is your argument is lacking in basic common sense.

  2. RE: “Florida has 20% of the new surge cases.”

Is that a fact? The article says, “Florida now accounts for 20% of all cases in the country.” It is hard to say what that means.

Apart from that, using the Covid-19 Dashboard the article cites, many counties in Florida appear to have both with high vaccination rates and high infection rates.

    1. Not surprising. Fauci has noted that fully vaccinated people can spread delta to the unvaccinated with some ease. The viral load may be much higher, yet the vaccinated will still have mild to asymptomatic infections and thus spread the disease.

        1. Yes, that was the point. So although I am protected from serious illness or death, I can still be a source and that would be a big problem for unvaccinated folks around me.

But breakthroughs are rare compared to the number of people who have been vaccinated.

I started a different thread to address this question.
