Some low level drug dealer is in prison for decades while the Sacklers sip cool drinks on a fantasy island?
My perennial favorite when this kind of scum buys their way out:
“The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread.“ Anatole France
In America, if you are poor and accused of a crime you are most likely screwed. Bail? Forget it. Attorney? What a kidder.
Now this kind of inequity might be worth watering the tree of liberty with patriot blood.

“In the City of God, St. Augustine tells the story of a pirate captured by Alexander the Great. The Emperor angrily demanded of him, “How dare you molest the seas?” To which the pirate replied, ‘How dare you molest the whole world? Because I do it with a small boat, I am called a pirate and a thief. You, with a great navy, molest the world and are called an emperor.'”

Would you prefer to rescind the legal doctrine that exempts the owners of a corporation from personal liability?

If you open a an auto body shop and it fails, an LLC keeps the bank from coming after your home and your 401k. It doesn’t give you immunity if you’re caught stealing catalytic converters.

You are confusing civil litigation in the case of the story you posted with criminal litigation.

If owners of a corporation commit crimes they won’t be shielded.

This was a civil, not criminal, case.

Still, corporations are not a perfect wall when crimes are knowingly committed.
Purdue Pharma, several distributors and even a Congressman were so entwined in an obvious and scurrilous scheme to get people addicted for profit.
Any difference between them and El Chapo?

So, file criminal charges.
This is still a civil case.

My point is being missed.
The petty drug dealer can’t hide behind a corporate veil for committing the exact same offense on a much smaller scale. Unless we forget prosecuting the dealer and sue him for damages, money prevails.

They’re not missing your point. They’re doing what the right does–shilling for rich, powerful people and institutions.

I am reminded of the old quip:
If you borrow $500 from a bank your are a debtor. Borrow a million and you’re a partner.

No. Your point is irrelevant.

Brave words, and utterly incapable of being proved. What a waste of time!
