I will bet a dollar against a donut that Mr. Murray considers himself to be a patriot.

What is unregistered ammunition?
DC has some very restrictive gun laws, but this might make a good test case.
If the rifle and ammo were in his car, and he was not, then the firearms charges would seem to stand alone, I see no evidence of hostile use of them.

I had the same question.
This is a breaking story. It appears that he drove to DC and to the VP’s residence from Texas and that somebody tipped the authorities that he was up to no good.

Meanwhile right wing preachers are touting civil war.

Wonderful. I guess if they can’t win an election, they wants to become like Syria. Because that is what modern civil wars look like. The fantasy of gallant men in grey uniforms protecting states rights is still strong in the revisionist thinking.
Barrel bombs, nerve gas, lynchings, mass arrests, torture and executions fill out the program. Toss in destroyed cities, hospitals, schools just for fun.
Big talk from small brains already gave us an attempted autogolpe, so now the right wants violence as a new normal.

You should try to get that phrase copyrighted since you use it every time you do not understand what you have read.
My point, of course, is that the rhetoric of “conservative” leaders has become so vile and unpatriotic that we face a real danger of weak-minded people believing it and acting on it.

Your point may have been obvious to you, but it is not obvious to anyone else. It also doesn’t follow from being arrested on gun-related charges that the suspect might consider himself to be a patriot.

“Even though those thousands of people were marching on the Capitol were trying to pressure people like me to vote the way they wanted me to vote, I knew those were people that love this country, that truly respect law enforcement, would never do anything to break the law, so I wasn’t concerned,” Ron Johnson
At least according a powerful Republican firebrand, patriotism has a strange definition. If you don’t like the outcome of an election, it is patriotic to kill, beat, and injure police to the extent that 15 were hospitalized, 3 died, 1 blinded and 150 others injured enough to get treatment.
Never mind try to kill the VP because the ex-president was not happy.
I think that the right is wrong about patriotic duties.
