“ “He screwed his supporters, he screwed the country and now he’s screwed himself,” said a 2016 Trump campaign official, predicting his former boss would cease to remain a popular figure in GOP politics after Wednesday.l

“Donald Trump caused this insurrection with lies and conspiracy theories about the election being rigged against him,” said Scott Jennings, a former aide to President George W. Bush who is close to the Trump White House. “The election was not stolen but this madness was fomented by the president and his top advisers.”

Don may have had a point that Trump is washed up. Fortunately so is the Republican Party.

    1. While describing the actions not taken by the Capital Police yesterday Joe Scarborough said something this morning that made me wish I used bumper stickers:

“They just opened the fucking doors”

Seditious insurrection instigated by trump and enabled by the GOP.

    2. I agree that Trump has ended his relevance, but I wouldn’t write off the GOP too quickly.

For decades the GOP has lacked the combativeness needed to oppose the Democrats. As soon as someone unjustly accused a Republican of being a racist, the response was to slink off like a whipped dog with his tail between his legs. Trump taught them to fight back, and that will serve them well.

Trump taught them that they will never get a fair shake from the press so they have learned to go around the press.

Most of all, his policies of lower corporate taxes and cooperative, rather than obstructive, regulation have been very successful. As Biden reverses those policies, he will drive the country into the ditch hard. He will be praised by the press and foreign leaders as he does so, but the hardship that befalls the working class will be impossible to hide.

Unless Manchin saves them by preserving divided government, Democrats will make a big enough mess in the next 2 years to put the GOP in charge of Congress in 2022.

You really beleive that? He is going to be all over the place the next 4 years, pushing more and more of his conspiracy crap. And there enough GOP representatives who are afraid to alienate his base, which is VERY relevant.

Until he is jailed or exiled (like any other dictator) and his supporters realize how dangerous he is (policies be damned), this country is in danger. Regardless of who has the power in D.C.

        1. I suspect he’ll be a one place and not have access to a communication device. The legal system (the real one) has been biding its time and will move when his corrupt ass is a private citizen.

          IMHO.

        2. You don’t give other people the credit they are due. Even Trump’s White House staff have seen that he has let his personal frustration get the best of him at the expense of the party and are abandoning him.

He has always been self centered and vain, and he let that get the better of him. He is no longer relevant in his own party.

You going for laughs now? If ANY of these fools think they can redeem themselves by bailing with two weeks of this abomination left they are kidding themselves and obviously kidding you.

And speaking of you, this admission [“He has always been self centered and vain, and he let that get the better of him”] is far too little and too late to redeem the credibility you have pissed away over the years cheerleading and making excuses for this cretin. For almost five years now those of us who are not eager to see failure in Washington have been telling you exactly that.

          2. You were gone for a while, so perhaps you missed the scores of criticisms of Trump’s personality, thin skin and self aggrandizement.

I have consistently pointed out Trump’s character flaws and balanced that against his not being Hillary and his successful realignment of regulation,

You said the same thing every time. It wasn’t scores of criticism, it was he same basic statement EVERY time. He has personality flaws but he’s not Hillary. Such garbage rationalization.

If that were remotely true, the 25th Amendment would have been invoked long ago.

And you have NEVER blamed T**** for ANYTHING he has said or done. You just rationalized it all away. SAD!

          5. Well in spite of your “scores of criticisms” you failed to connect the obvious dots that these massive character flaws were disqualifying of the office he held.

But far beyond that failure of judgment, you repeatedly went out of your way to defend Trump’s corrupt, seditious and treasonous behavior. Always some bullshit excuse. Over the Ukraine extortion where you cheerfully spread the lie that Joe Biden was hiding a massive scandal and Trump only wanted to fight corruption. And over the election where you cheerfully spread the lie that the election was stolen in spite of no evidence of any weight whatsoever.

And now you want to insult our intelligence with the claim that somehow Hillary Clinton was worse? Credibility is about what other people think of your intellect and honesty. Yours is shot, IMHO. And it is not like you were not warned what the effect of your Trump apologetics was going to do to it.

          6. It’s not angels and devils.

Joe Biden and his family ARE massively corrupt. His brother and son have made their careers trading on his position.

The hypocrisy was in the Democrats accusing Trump of some quid pro quo with Ukraine based on a bizarre interpretation of a conversation when Biden had explicitly threatened Ukraine with a loss of billions in aid if they didn’t fire a prosecutor involved in corruption that implicated his son.

            That factually happened.

That position was the position of the Obama administration and that of many western European governments. It was NOT “But I want you to do us a favor, though”…

Your “factually” is a very bad misunderstanding of the REAL facts.

And accusing the Biden family of being corrupt is the height of hypocrisy when you consider that the Trump family has done it to much greater extent. You cannot call out one and ignore the other.

          8. Keep digging that hole you are in. It is quite the spectacle of delusion, derangement and dishonesty.

Hunter Biden capitalizing on his father’s reputation is NOT massively corrupt. The offspring of wealthy, famous or influential people do it all the time. It may well be unseemly but THAT is the way of the free market you are always extolling.

And yet once again your characterization of Biden’s role in Ukrainian events is either dumb or dishonest or both. This bullshit lie has been debunked for you over and over again but you don’t give a damn about the truth.

          9. Your “debunking” is nothing more than a presumption contrary to the facts.

“Facts” you pulled out of your ass don’t count. You make VERY serious allegations – that our new President is “massively corrupt” – without a scintilla of evidence to back it up. And this is while offering unwavering support to a person who actually is “massively corrupt.”

But I am a good sport. Let met TRY to assume for the moment that you are merely misinformed and not dishonest. Here is yet another fact check on the claim you keep pushing . . .

          10. I’m not even going to try to assume you don’t know that Biden’s brother, with no experience in construction, didn’t get millions of dollars for construction in Iraq, where he had never even been, on merit.

Or that Hunter’s job wasn’t a payoff from the Ukrainian autocrats who were protected by Biden getting the prosecutor fired.

Because I know you’re not that naive, you just don’t care if the Biden’s cash in on public office. You just long for a monarchy in which everything belongs to the sovereign to be divied up among his supporters

          11. You still have not cited ANY evidence of “massive corruption.” You pulled the same stunt with Hillary Clinton whom you also claimed was massively corrupt without any evidence except in your imagination.

I get it. In life – and especially in business – it is not what you know, it is who you know. You can spin that fact of life into “massive corruption” until you turn blue. Knock yourself out. A hater has got to hate. But the fact remains that Joe Biden has been just about the LEAST corrupt of any United States Senator of the past five decades.

          13. “That is pretty much the definition of corruption?”

Uh, no. It isn’t. Here is the actual definition . . .

“corruption : dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.”

But this is a typical rhetorical trick we have seen from you over and over again. Throw out an outrageous and unsupportable slander and when called on it – simply redefine the words you used. Easy!

          16. The answers to both your questions is No.

Hunter Biden added value to Burisma by virtue of his name. Just like the ex-President of Poland did. Neither was supposed to be an expert on gas production, but they were there to add credibility to the organization in its dealings with investors, lenders, customers and governments. If you really cannot understand that, then in spite of all your extolling of the marketplace, you haven’t got a clue about its realities.

As for your second question, that is what has been debunked over and over again. So, you clearly care nothing for evidence if it does not fit the slander you want to spread.

          17. What you are saying there is not that Biden’s actions were not corrupt, but that you’re OK with corruption as a normal part of doing business.

          18. “Considering his son’s involvement with the oligarchs at the least Biden should have recused himself from the decisions. He did not.”

There was nothing to recuse himself from. Foreign policy decisions are the province of the President and the Secretary of State. Biden was neither. In this matter, he was merely an agent of Obama policy carrying out his instructions. The record is crystal clear on that point, but again you do not give a damn about the facts of the matter if they do not feed the slanders you want to spread.

As for . . . “What you are saying there is not that Biden’s actions were not corrupt, but that you’re OK with corruption as a normal part of doing business.”

Again you throw out garbage based on your own screwy definition of what “corrupt” means.

      2. Wow. This “analysis” is one that I find to be very typical of Trumpists – essentially nonsense built on a fantasy foundation of “alternative facts.”

“For decades the GOP has lacked the combativeness needed to oppose the Democrats”
What planet are you actually from. For decades the GOP has fought the Democrats tooth and nail EVEN when they agreed with what they were trying to do. The party of No! The party that was going to make Obama a one term President whatever the cost. Too mild until Trump came along? LOL!

“…unjustly accused a Republican of being a racist”
“Unjustly?” The hard core of the GOP is the result of decades of “southern strategy,” wedge politics and racial divisiveness. It is lead now by the racist hero and Birther-in-chief. It is now the political home of racists, nativists, misogynists and White Supremacists of every stripe. That is simply the fact of the matter. The decent people of the former GOP have been demonized, marginalized and expunged.

Lies, conspiracy theories and utter nonsense do not get a “fair shake” in the real press. The bias you whine about all the time is a bias in favor of the truth. That, too, is the fact of the matter.

And now this gem of complete nonsense . . . “Most of all, his policies of lower corporate taxes and cooperative, rather than obstructive, regulation have been very successful.”
Uh, no. His economic policies including massive and feckless tax cuts have done NOTHING to bend the economic curve in a better direction and THAT was before he lost control of the pandemic. He leaves us with an economy in tatters and trillions of dollars of debt that purchased nothing.

Trump has been a failure in every possible way. There is literally nothing that he has done well and countless area of his responsibility where he has failed completely.

      3. “… policies of lower corporate taxes and cooperative, rather than obstructive, regulation have been very successful.”

        No.

The final quarter of 2019 showed a downturn in manufacturing. Trade deficits increased. GDP never broached Obama’s except immediately after the tax cut. Our taxes actually went up. Wages and employment figures were on the same trajectory as the previous administration. The deficit doubled and the debt bumped up a trillion or two. And that was long before the pandemic.

So attributing an economic miracle to Trump is pretty much BS.

You are correct that the working classes will suffer. Not because of Biden, but rather the poorly handled COVID crisis which will hurt for years to come.

Republicans without the cult of Trump worship will be shown for the flaccid platform they have. There is no connection between Jordan or Cruz or Hawley and their constituents without Trump. And Trump has left the building.

I particularly loved this one: “Conspiracy theorist Lin Wood tweeted to his over 1 million followers before having his account suspended: “Mike Pence @VP @Mike_Pence is a TRAITOR, a Communist Sympathizer & a Child Molester. Lock him up.”

Mike Pence a child molester? I may not agree with him politically, but never would I accuse him of something like that.
