Trump sues NYT for campaign criticism. Junior slanders Biden.

A couple of months ago the president sued NYT over this in an opinion:

“…the quid of help in the campaign against Hillary Clinton for the quo of a new pro-Russian foreign policy.”

Now, of course, we know the writer was correct. The Flynn case was about promising Russian intelligence removal of sanctions imposed by Obama because of election interference. So it was a valid criticism of the president’s campaign as it applied to regime policy before and after the election.

Along comes the Trump progeny, Junior, and calls Biden a pedophile. This while Senior accused Scarborough of murder.

As far as I know those accusations have little to do with policy and all to do with personal insults and false accusations of serious crimes.

To the credit of both Scarborough and Biden, neither is going to “wrestle in the mud with pigs”, to borrow an apt witticism. The rest of the phrase is “you’ll only get dirty, besides the pig loves it.” Sadly apropos to say the least.

Yet, I wonder if slander, even by a sitting president, might not apply. After all, both attacks were total fabrications and truly personal. And, more important, is that the authors knew they were false and uttered in malice.

And even if by some perversion of the law, Trump is immune, his son surely can’t be protected by some kind of sovereignty by primogeniture.

IMHO

  1. Can’t wait to hear what the defenders have to say about this one.

Junior said he was just joking. Another “pedophile” reference from Trumpworld, like Pizzagate and the candidate in California referring to Dreamers as “pedophiles”. It’s the same thing all of the time. I think you may have been right the other day when you said there is an obsession on the right about that. I also refer to projection, but…

And Pelosi, who is is a position to wrestle with the pigs and still come out clean, called Mr. Trump “morbidly obese”. She is actually half right. He is “clinically obese”.

    1. The right is obsessed with pedophilia.

“When accused of thievery, call others thieves.”

“When accused of lying, call others fake news”.

      And so it goes.

    2. Clinically obese by what measure? BMI?

Without determining actual body fat content by specific gravity, BMI is useful only statistically, and not on an individual basis. Most professional football players, even with body fat under 15% would still be clinically obese by BMI.

    1. I thought this was put to bed when JTR posted it? Len and I challenged it then and lo and behold both you and Mr. Roberts said nothing to support the accusation. It was meh then and it is more meh now.

Oh wait. Keep repeating it enough times and it will come true. NOT!

    2. Flynn was fired because he lied to Pence. Probably not about his golf scores.

What would have been retaliatory sanctions were delayed the very day after the conversation with Russian intelligence.

Egads, I did not see the pure “coincidence”.

      1. “Which begs the question; Why the f would Jr. post it?”

Well, the answer to that question might just be as simple as . . .

‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.’

      2. Did you read the caption Jr put below the meme?

The point it that the MSM consistently ignores sexual abuse claims against Biden, and his long and visible history of, at best, creepy, behavior toward women and children.

        1. Ignoring sexual abuse claims? There is only one that I know of and she has been in the news, MSM, almost daily. Part of it is because her story changes almost as often. Major media has done deep research into her claims and more and more evidence is revealed that she is not truthful.

          But ignored? Hardly.

    1. Oh, gosh, that makes Junior’s tweet so much better.

Now about his dad’s accusation that Scarborough murdered his employee 20 years ago.

      Another “joke”.

Slander is slander. Sleaze is sleaze. And the Twain doth meet at a town called Trump.

      Just sayin’.

      1. Not a joke, a counter-punch. The death of Scarborough’s employee was suspicious then and never really resolved. So, when Joe takes a shot at Trump, expect to see questionable events from his past to be invoked.

        1. Questionable events?

Stop with the insinuations already. Scarborough wasn’t even in the same city when she died.

Trump is a lying piece of human scum and you know it.

Note I am using presidential language for describing Republicans he is upset with.

          1. I didn’t say I thought he was guilty, but there is every bit as much justification for Trump raising the issue as there was for Scarborough alleging Trump wasn’t really taking HCQ.

You take a shot at Trump and he will come back with something.

        2. …” death of Scarborough’s employee was suspicious then and never really resolved”.

          Two words: Horse SHIT!

She had a medical condition that caused her to black out and she cracked her skull on a desk.` Try looking up the coroner’s report and you will see that was the determination. For you to say it was never resolved is bogus bullshit and I though you were better than that.

But your despising of Democratic politicians truly blinds any kind of judgement you have. And to jump on the shitshow train that is Trump and continue to support his lies, mis-truths, slanderous attacks and every little thing because he cuts a few regulations you don’t like is absolutely unfathomable. It’s a “trains run on time” type of thinking and it is dangerous.

      1. Again, those have been circulating social media for months.

And again note the comments, that the many creepy Joe videos and photos are ignored by the MSM.

He’s poking at the MSM’s turning away from addressing Biden’s creepy behavior.

        1. Ignored? Why shouldn’t they be ignored.

Who do you know who is fascinated by any photos of Mr. Biden with his hand on a shoulder?

We already were disgusted by a video of Trump bragging and instructing how he sexually assaults women. It is hard to reach that level of depravity. So the tag team of Trump and Trump scrape the Internet for memes about pedophiles.

          You keep defending this president.

You hate Democrats as you’ve said in the past. I get that.

But you really need to reconsider who your knight in shining armor is.

          1. Speaking of creepy:“Well, I’ll tell you the funniest is that I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere. And I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it. You know, I’m inspecting, I want to make sure that everything is good.

You know, the dresses. ‘Is everyone okay?’ You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’ And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that. But no, I’ve been very good.“

          2. You may want to watch that video again. Sometimes those hands are very near places they shouldn’t be. In my previous career human resources evolved from a good touch/bad touch policy in the olden days to a strict NO Touch policy in present day. I’d advise the VP to go with the no touch policy.

          3. I can’t defend hands on women. What he did in the edited video (edited to show the same movement over and over making it look like groping) was not acceptable then, nor is it today.

I think Biden got the message and has apologized.

On balance, it is not going to be a big issue from the Trump campaign. Inviting comparisons would not be smart, in my opinion.

But then I did not win the presidency either.

So what? That doesn’t make it a proper move for the President or his son, pr anyone associated with his campaign to repost it. It’s disgusting and demeaning to the American people.

  2. Perhaps someone could point out where Trump said “Scarborough committed murder”. That is an accusation, his tweet was nothing more than musing. And quite frankly, Trump is correct, everyone on MSNBC is a nut job. Those people scream and babble so much nonsense, all it’s good for is a severe migraine. Aleve and Triptan thank them for the business though.

      A tweet from DJT.

Sure sounds like an accusation to me and anyone else reading that.

      Musing?

      Sure, whatever you say.

But you have a point. Trump senior and junior do “scream and babble so much nonsense”.

      1. “Sure sounds like an accusation to me and anyone else reading that.” Please don’t assume that you know what others are thinking about that tweet. You don’t. Many times I’ve noticed you somehow think you are speaking for the majority. Again, you don’t.

          1. I don’t think much about the tweet. It’s what he does. I was referring to your statement that because you thought it was an accusation others should and do feel the same way. I do regret using the word “majority” as that makes me as guilty as you as far as thinking for others. Others would have been more appropriate. I have reread the tweet again and I can see nothing resembling an accusation there. Please show me a line where he accused Scarborough of anything.

          2. “Cold case”. It is not a cold case at all. It was closed 20 years ago with no controversy.

“Did he get away with murder? Some people think so.”

That is pretty accusatory. Perhaps a strong innuendo might be more appropriate. In either case he implies that the death was suspicious and was not resolved, which was a lie, of course.

Put another way, if you lost a worker decades ago and I came up to you and said “did you get away with murder. Some people thinks so” I am sure you would not smile.

          3. Creativity is interpreting Trump’s words to be anything but an insinuation that Scarborough is a murderer.

Which, of course was the whole idea of diversion.

Now, there have been credible allegations that he did the same at Teen Pageants in the late 90’s. Girls 15-16 years old.

“Four women who competed in the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant said Donald Trump walked into the dressing room while contestants — some as young as 15 — were changing.“

“I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, ‘Oh my god, there’s a man in here,’ ” said Mariah Billado, the former Miss Vermont Teen USA.“

“Billado said she told Ivanka Trump (Trump’s daughter), about Donald Trump entering the room while the girls were changing their clothes. Billado remembers Ivanka answering, “Yeah, he does that.”

To be fair, he was just looking. And some contestants don’t recall seeing him, but they may have been out.

Combine this with Trump’s admiration of Epstein for his love of beautiful women, albeit “on the younger side”.

Now we have serious creepy. Mr. Biden has nothing to fear from the pervert now in office.
