Apparently the graphs to show a decline in virus cases and deaths was created by reversing dates.
People rely on data published by authorities to discern the risks. Fudging numbers to open up a state is criminal. Spokespeople said it was unintentional. Really? Apparently, according to AJC (linked in the LA Times article) It happened earlier also.
I know the economy is important. Yet this push by the Republicans to open and accept the casualties to be for the greater good is puzzling. A few thousand more deaths for economic reasons is ok now, but heaven forbid the demise of a fertilized egg for a single mom or low income families because of economic distress. Consider that unwanted children are also not in the interest of society’s greater good.
The lie of Pro-life (anti-choice) on full dispaly. Again.
I wonder when folks will start to think a little bit about what the GOP really stands for. “It’s all about the Benjamins”. And the power over people’s lives they claim Democrats want. Projection ? Perhaps.

Not at all surprised to read this. It was 3 to 4 or so weeks ago that I read where one of the states (FL or SC, and maybe it was Georgia) said they would no longer be giving out their numbers of new cases of Covid-19 or deaths. I thought right then that that was a wrong thing to do, because how would they be able to share their legitimate stats to add to the country’s totals? It makes you understand why several of the epidemiologists keep saying saying that the numbers of cases and deaths are much higher than is being reported.

Florida at first stopped posting data from nursing homes, then this.

“Over the last few weeks, the dashboard has gone offline, data has disappeared without explanation, and it’s been difficult to gain access to underlying data sheets,”… I really need to call my Aunt and Uncle in Palm Beach County…
GOV DeSantis is a Trump wannabe and acts exactly as his hero does. Similar to Trump’s comments about if we don’t do testing then the problem isn’t as bad. DeSantis is thinking if we don’t report the data, then the cases will never happen and no one dies. -IMO

Perhaps. But the data that is supposed to be used for opening up a state is based on a 14 day decline of cases and positive tests. At least that is what the administration was putting out.
So it is super critical to make sure the information is accurate.
It may be that reversing some of the dates, twice, is stupidity. If so, then Georgia has more problems than just a virus.
Then again, there is the governor himself:
“Finding out that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs, so what we’ve been telling people from directives from the CDC for weeks now that if you start feeling bad, stay home… those individuals could’ve been infecting people before they ever felt bad. But we didn’t know that until the last 24 hours. And as Dr. Toomey told me, this is a game changer for us.”
That was April 2. Ignorance is not a good excuse for our leaders.

Remember it. With DJT, it’s hard to forget it.

It was probably innocent enough. If I had a nickel for every time I plotted data backwards, I could buy an ice cream cone…. true it’s not that much, but 60 times is a lot. Some poor schmuck with limited eXcel skills who was fired the next day.
