Die, Boomer

Generational war

Around the world, millenials and younger are taking the attitude that since it only kills old people, it’s not a problem, so party on.

  1. Paywalled, so couldn’t read the entire WSJ piece.

However, if it is accurate, let the finger pointing begin. I blame the parents for not teaching the next generation to respect their elders. I may have been a child of the 60’s and 70’s, but the one thing my parents instilled in my brother and I (and we have done with our children as well), is that the benefits the younger generation are reaping (and I’m not talking entitlements, just the society and innovations) are there because of the hard work done by those that came before.

And never one to say no to a good party, my son laid in supplies for an occasional Bombay Sapphire Martini and vodka and soda. But to share at home.

    1. Apparently 60 is the new 80…

I would like to think I would have been more evolved and empathetic at that age, but I’d probably be fooling myself.

I’m not surprised. Bommer hatred is astonishingly strong in some corners of the Internet I visit. We (Boomers) are seen as hopelessly narcissistic and selfish. As a class. Of bad people.

I’m not sure how I feel about it. I don’t mind copping to the narcissism and selfishness, but I’ve had a hard life, with many private lessons learned. I don’t appreciate being seen as a member of a class to the exclusion of all other factors.

The arrogance and wrong headedness of the social justice thinking of the young knows no bounds. Best I can figure is they will learn, eventually.
